About the event
Mangoes of Lalbagh Trees is a curated walk that collates the various legends and debates that mangoes inspire. From tree to tree we discover Lalbagh’s meticulous tree collection and discover how pineapple helped shape the aesthetics of mango taste in India. Along with many exotic fruits of the season. Lalbagh has a large collection of wild mango trees. Each of them a different flavours—sour, tangy, tart or guava sweet. On this route we forage and uncover these different flavours. These mangoes have no real equivalent to the ones we buy in the market and represent the many directions this fruits has evolved into.
Alongside these we also discover the many exotic fruits like Bumpy Lemon, Surinam Cherry, Carob, etc and their backstories in the garden.
These walks are one of many designed to erase tree blindness and introduce Lal Bagh’s tree diversity.
